The Coda Presents: The REAL Video Music Awards
So, I know that it’s a little late, since the VMA’s were a few weeks ago, but I honestly can't stand how MTV nominates or defines music videos for awards. There is a whole world of music videos, yet MTV examines popular music videos only. It should be called the “Popular Music Awards”. It gives me a headache; there is nothing at all original about half of the videos nominated. The music videos that actually have original subjects, stories, and film elements get overlooked.
So, I have compiled a small amount of music videos that I think would have been better choices for some of the nominations. And before someone cries “hater”, I liked some of the nominated music videos, Tyler the Creator had a good video, the Beastie Boys and The Lonely Island videos are fun. And no, I don’t watch every single video that is made, so, if someone has a suggestion; please feel free to let me know.
There is a whole world of music, and great videos to go along with them. These are just a few of the videos that I’ve come across in the past year, some which were nominated in the actual show, but these are nonetheless, in my opinion, some of the best of the rest. Enjoy.
The Black Keys - Howlin' For You
Is Tropical - The Greeks
(Warning: This video contains subject matter of a highly sensitive subject matter involving children and violence. Viewer Discretion is highly advised.)
Manchester Orchestra - Simple Math
The Living Sisters - How Are You Doin'
Atmosphere - The Last To Say
New Order - Machine Civilization
If anyone has any other recent suggestions, please don't hesitate to share.
